Grubby Little Paws
With the Woodies empire now spread across the water and two countries getting the quality and quantity of product that the Woodies loyal customers wanted became even more important. With a tight network of other fashion enclaves across the country including Flannels, Cruse, Limeys, Reiss, Jones and Woodhouse, who had stirred up the "designer" culture the mission was on to find the next cutting edge, whispered about items. This desire to have items that nobody else could get their grubby little paws on in your store led to Woodies stocking a crazy amount of different labels which filed the shelves until they groaned under the weight.
By the early nineties this intense competition to have something no one else in the universe had reached critical mass with more labels in the shop than items of clothing, Woodies realised that it had gone a bit too far with too much product and too many labels. As Bacon himself said " The lesson was learnt, there is enough product for everyone." It was then that Woodies made the positive decision to work more closely with a core of really excellent brands, giving them their total support and representation which would both benefit the client and the customer. This has meant that Woodies has stuck with some of the great, now classic brands such as Armani, Hugo Boss, Stone Island, Henri Lloyd, Paul Smith and Ralph Lauren, which Woodies customers have come to love and expect.
