About Woodies EmporiumSince the early nineteen eighties there has been a major player in the fashion markets of the UK and in particular Wales, who's foresight, persistence and drive to discover cutting edge fashion has pushed them to the top of their field. Woodies Emporium was principally established in Cardiff in 1982 the brain-child of style obsessive Ray Bacon and the culmination of many years hard clothes hunting in the fashion capitals of Europe. It was this passion for European couture and the bespoke style of London that led to a moment of clarity for Bacon, startling himself with the realisation that Cardiff was severely in need of a fashion awakening. It was therefore down to Woodies to get the masses to wake up and smell the Stone Island. Firmly based on the style of fashion and buying intuition that Bacon had developed working for others in the fashion retail business. Woodies quickly came to resemble the type of London fashion enclaves Bacon had been frequenting for many moons, such as Reiss, Woodhouse and Jones. The main concept that drove Woodies was that it would refuse to bend to trends; it would instead focus on something much more creative and much more product orientated. Therefore Woodies started out with the original aim to bring a little bit of Paris, New York, Milan and a little bit of London to Cardiff without stepping into the pretentious world of high brow fashion. |
